 | Hello, runners, It's time to get (half) naked at Saturday's McClellan Park Medical Mall Half-Naked Marathon. It's not a Grand Prix points race - but it is one great event on the ARC schedule. If you didn't pre-register, don't worry. Raceday registration is from 7 to 7:45 a.m., with the race set for 8. Don't miss it. Here's the course map. Here's the weather report for Saturday morning. Here's last year's results. Race director Bruce Greene had this to say about the Half-Naked (via Facebook): "Saturday's McClellan Park Medical Mall Half Naked Marathon (MPMMHNM) is quickly approaching and the preregistration door is about to close; however, race day registration will be available ... from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. in the McClellan Cafe. Day of the race registration will cost you $12, but that's still a genuine bargain considering you'll get a long-sleeved shirt (with the MPMMHNM logo), a "I Run Half Naked" car magnet (that's a conversation piece in itself), and breakfast (buffet style) ... plus you may win one of the door prizes. Given that this is a low key event, there won't be any overall or age group awards - just your individual satisfaction for having participated (and it counts toward your Mile-A-Day or 1200 Mile Club mileage accumulation). The weather forecast calls for showers; but temperatures should be near ideal for us runners; so don't let the weather deter your spirit. "I've been asked about the cost for breakfast for event non-participants. The price will be $6.00 for non-participants; free for race participants. The breakfast menu will be: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, bananas, coffee, orange juice, hot chocolate and water. "We'll have water, Gatorade, fruit and cookies available on the course at the 2, 4, 6.5, 9, and 11 mile points. "The race will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and we plan to close the course at 11:00 a.m., but will certainly keep it open as long as we have runners on the course. "We've had a few ARC members report that they've encountered last minute injuries and have subsequently opted to volunteer to assist with the event, so I've added them to the list of volunteers. (Thank you all.) If you have friends or family members that would like to volunteer to assist with the event, please contact me ... we have things they can do. "If you have any concerns or questions about the MPMMHNM, contact me at greenebl@cableone.net or at 256-239-4971." With that, let's get ready for McClellan on Saturday. Fast and injury-free running, Phillip

| On the trail Trail Junkies: Put this trail training run on your calendar - Saturday, Jan. 28 - Adam's Gap to Top of Cheaha. Meet at 8 a.m. at the trailhead at Adam's Gap to run the 15-mile section to the top of Cheaha. This is the second half of Mount Cheaha 50k and includes Blue Hell. Bring your own water and supplements/snacks. Extra water will be placed at the intersect of 600-3 and the trail, where you come up from Cheaha Falls. Those wanting to park at the finish - we'll park to the right of the Cheaha State Park Store. There is a parking area and you don't have to pay to park there. We'll need volunteers to take those drivers to Adam's Gap to start the run. After the run, Brooke has agreed to ferry runners again from the finish back to the start, but if anyone else wants to park at the finish that would be great as we'll probably need more than one vehicle.
